About the work
Kersh often refers to the works in this exhibition as cells, as the round shapes of the inner frames create a sense of volume and three-dimensionality. There is an impression that each cell contains an entire world within itself. In Empty Vessel, we see deep blues in the foreground and pale warm light as a focal point in the center creating a sense of distance and volume, the space within vast, open, and available.
